Virginia Roberts’ Account of Jeffrey Epstein’s Elite Connections and Her Encounters with Bill Clinton
One of Jeffrey Epstein’s most prominent accusers, Virginia Roberts (now Virginia Giuffre), has provided a detailed account of the convicted sex offender’s deep ties to America’s political and cultural elite — including two separate meetings with former President Bill Clinton.
Epstein’s Political Network and Clinton’s Visits
Jeffrey Epstein, a billionaire financier from working-class roots in New York, leveraged his vast wealth and self-made persona to cultivate powerful relationships across the American political establishment, particularly within Democratic Party circles. Over the years, Epstein contributed more than £75,000 to Democratic candidates and causes.
Flight records and public accounts confirmed that Clinton traveled with Epstein on multiple occasions, including at least three trips aboard Epstein’s private jet. One notable flight carried Clinton alongside Hollywood figures Kevin Spacey and Chris Tucker to Africa, ostensibly to discuss AIDS policy. In November 2003, Clinton again traveled with Epstein to destinations spanning Russia, Norway, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing.
Virginia Roberts Describes a Dinner on Epstein’s Private Island
Roberts, who was approximately 17 years old at the time, described being flown to Epstein’s private Caribbean island where Clinton was a dinner guest shortly after leaving the White House. She recalled that Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s longtime associate, piloted a large black helicopter — purchased for her by Epstein — to pick up the former president.
Roberts emphasized that she was never “lent out” to Clinton and saw no indication he engaged in any misconduct. However, she noted that Epstein had arranged for two young, dark-haired women — whom she estimated were no older than 17 — to attend the dinner.
Inside the Island Dinner
Roberts provided a detailed account of the seating arrangement: Epstein sat at the head of the table, Clinton to his left, with Maxwell beside Clinton. Roberts sat across from the former president, with Emmy Tayler — Maxwell’s British assistant — to her right. The two young brunettes, who had flown in from New York, were also seated at the table.
She described the evening as surprisingly light-hearted. Roberts recalled that Clinton was genuinely funny and made her laugh several times. He, Epstein, and Maxwell traded jokes while the brunettes listened and giggled politely. Roberts said she did not see Clinton again during that particular visit and assumed Maxwell flew him back by helicopter.
Photos of Underage Girls Displayed Openly
Roberts described the interior of Epstein’s island villa as containing three desks in the main living area, all covered with photographs of Epstein posing alongside famous individuals — interspersed with images of nude young women, including a photo of Roberts herself reclining in a hammock that Epstein kept at all his properties.
Roberts stated that Clinton must have seen those photos since they were displayed in plain sight. She added that Epstein once told her he and Clinton were close friends, and when she asked how that came about, Epstein laughed and replied that Clinton owed him some favors.
Roberts reflected that it always shocked her that people with as much to lose as Clinton and Prince Andrew were not more careful about their associations.
The Arnold Prosperi Connection
Prison visitor records revealed another link between Epstein and the Clinton orbit. Arnold Prosperi, a longtime Clinton associate, visited Epstein during his jail sentence. Prosperi had been convicted of tax fraud and faced three years in prison, but in the final hours of the Clinton presidency in January 2001, Clinton commuted his sentence to house arrest.
Law enforcement sources noted the unusual nature of this triangular relationship, speculating whether Prosperi was serving as some kind of intermediary for Clinton, or whether the commutation was itself a favor connected to Epstein.
Al Gore and Tipper Gore as Island Guests
Roberts also disclosed that former Vice President Al Gore and his then-wife Tipper visited Epstein’s island. She described the couple as appearing happily married at the time. Years later, the Gores’ sudden divorce announcement in 2010 was followed by allegations that Gore had attempted to force himself on a massage therapist at an Oregon hotel.
Roberts said she had no idea anything was wrong between them and described them as a wonderful couple. She noted that Epstein did not ask her to do anything involving Gore, and that she had been planning to vote for him when she turned 18.
Senator George Mitchell and Other Political Figures
Roberts identified Senator George Mitchell — who served as President Obama’s Middle East peace envoy and previously led American peace efforts in Northern Ireland — as a frequent visitor to Epstein’s Manhattan residence. Epstein’s personal contacts book contained both a work and home telephone number for the senator.
Roberts recalled that Mitchell was very close to Epstein but described him as a polished, clean-cut person whom one would never associate with Epstein’s world.
Celebrity Connections: Hollywood and Beyond
Epstein’s social network extended well into the entertainment industry. Roberts described an encounter with Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons, aboard Epstein’s private aircraft. She said Epstein once had her give Groening a foot massage during a flight, and that Groening laughed and sketched drawings of Bart and Homer Simpson for her little brother and father.
Roberts also recounted meeting supermodel Naomi Campbell at a birthday celebration on a yacht off the coast of southern France. She described Campbell as a friend of Maxwell’s who was dismissive and cold when they were introduced.
She additionally mentioned encounters with Donald Trump, whom she described as a friend of Epstein’s. Roberts said Trump did not participate in any sexual activity but was flirtatious with her, joking to Epstein that he had “the life.”
Israel’s Ehud Barak Among Epstein’s Associates
Israel’s defense minister Ehud Barak was also among Epstein’s circle of high-profile contacts. A spokesperson for Barak confirmed that he attended several small gatherings at Epstein’s New York home, which were typically attended by prominent business leaders, university presidents, Nobel Prize laureates, and other public figures.
The Investigation and Controversial Plea Deal
Palm Beach police investigators reported that Epstein appeared completely unbothered when allegations against him first surfaced. He retained Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz — known for defending high-profile clients including Mike Tyson, Patty Hearst, Claus von Bülow, and O.J. Simpson — to lead his legal defense. Epstein simultaneously hired private investigators to scrutinize the backgrounds of his accusers.
Detectives methodically assembled what they believed was evidence of a systematic operation in which Epstein paid teenage girls to recruit additional underage victims into his sex trafficking network. However, as the investigation progressed, authorities discovered that Epstein’s defense team had contacted key witnesses, implying rewards for cooperation.
In a deal that outraged many of the officers who built the case, Epstein’s lawyers proposed an unusual arrangement in which alleged victims would pursue civil lawsuits rather than criminal prosecution. The resulting plea bargain saw Epstein admit to a single count of soliciting an underage girl for prostitution — a resolution widely condemned as grossly inadequate given the scale of the allegations.
More than 20 of Epstein’s victims are believed to have filed civil suits against him, with at least 17 reaching out-of-court settlements.
Clinton, Gore, and Mitchell were all contacted regarding their connections to Epstein but declined to provide comment.
