Simon Parkes: The UK Councillor Who Claims Lifelong Alien Contact

A Local Councillor’s Extraordinary Claims

Simon Parkes, a Labour Party councillor elected to Whitby Town Council in North Yorkshire in February 2012, made headlines by publicly claiming to have experienced hundreds of encounters with extraterrestrial beings throughout his life. His statements, delivered via a YouTube video, detailed a lifetime of alleged alien contact that began before he was even born.

Encounters From Infancy

According to Parkes, his first experience occurred while still in the womb, where he reported seeing a kite-shaped face. He described his first direct physical encounter at six months old, when he claimed two green, elongated figures approached his cot. Parkes stated the 9-foot-tall being, which he described as having enormous eyes, two nasal openings, and a purple cloak, communicated with him telepathically through eye contact, identifying itself as his “real mother.”

By the age of three and a half, Parkes said he was visited by 8-foot-tall beings he referred to as “doctors,” accompanied by what he described as armed “human enforcement” officers who appeared through his wardrobe. At age eleven, he claimed he was taken aboard a craft by his alien “mother” and entered into an agreement to receive knowledge about humanity’s past and future.

Theories on Human Origins

Parkes shared his belief that the human race was genetically modified by an advanced extraterrestrial civilization in order to diminish the species’ capabilities. He maintained that certain reptilian beings had apologized to him multiple times for actions taken against humanity. However, he acknowledged uncertainty, stating that the beings “could be lying” to him and that their interest was not in his physical body but in his soul.

Alleged Intimidation Incident

Parkes also reported a suspicious vehicle collision that occurred while he was returning from a gathering with fellow believers. He described a black car deliberately ramming into his vehicle on the A64 near Tadcaster, with the other driver allegedly approaching him afterward to say, “I’m sorry, I had to do that.” North Yorkshire Police confirmed a four-vehicle collision did occur at that location, attributing it to a car braking suddenly and noting only minor injuries resulted.

Political Life and Public Reaction

Despite the unusual nature of his claims, Parkes insisted his extraterrestrial experiences had no bearing on his duties as a councillor. He stated that alien topics “did not come up on the doorstep” during his campaign for the Stakesby ward seat, where he won comfortably with 229 votes. A former councillor in Hackney during the 1990s who claimed to have met with Tony Blair, Parkes drew a comparison between his interactions with alleged extraterrestrials and the responsiveness of local government, remarking that he received “more common sense out of the aliens than out of Scarborough Town Hall.”

The case of Simon Parkes highlights the intersection of fringe beliefs and public service, raising questions about how personal convictions influence public perception of elected officials.
